Established in 1990, the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) is a small, primarily undergraduate university located in the city of Prince George, British Columbia. Set on the Nechako River, UNBC allows students to study in on the doorstep of the great outdoors. With small class sizes. UNBC provides each student unique educational opportunities. The result is a relaxed, yet productive learning community where undergraduates can grow both academically and socially.
62% of first and second year classes have fewer than 25 students. At the third and fourth year, the number is 75%.
UNBC recently opened a campus in Quesnel and a new campus in Terrace, which will open for classes in January. On the academic side, UNBC began offering a new Bachelor of Health Sciences in Fall 2006 and northern BC’s first Bachelor of Fine Arts is being developed with the Emily Carr Institute for delivery starting in Fall 2007.
